Founded and led by serial entrepreneur and game enthusiast Marc DeForest, the S2 team is an experienced and passionate group of professionals from diverse backgrounds that includes game developers, graphics artists, programmers and actors/film talent. Their unique mix of skill and experience brings fresh perspective and innovation to the game industry.



Our History

S2 delivered the industry's first real-time-strategy-shooter (RTSS) in 2003 with Savage: The Battle for Nerwerth, combining first-person shooter and real-time strategy genres. With the introduction of Savage also came the powerful Silverback Engine™, delivering incomparable graphics to online multiplayer games through a 3D rendering process for RTS and FPS viewpoints to deliver incredibly realistic battle imagery.

Savage 2: A Tortured Soul launched a few years later, delivering another powerful engine that brought unparalleled 3D rendering to multiplayer games. The K2 Engine™ is capable of running on a wide variety of systems in both OpenGL and Direct3D. K2 also supports its own custom effects system, interface system, and XML based scripting for game mechanics, allowing easy creation of new characters, interfaces and effects.

With the highly anticipated launch of Heroes of Newerth (HoN) in Spring 2010, S2 delivered a powerful game platform with team-based arena style action, powered by its proprietary K2 Engine™. HoN combines the most advanced online gaming graphics and functionality with compelling storylines and a pay-once-for-download model that makes easy on its gamer base's wallets. In December 2010, S2 unveiled HoN 2.0, which features a more action-packed style of game to enhance the adrenaline factor for hardcore gamers and attract more casual gamers, a growing breed of HoN players.
